Hi, I’m Jessica Maxam, founder and newborn care provider at Rays of Sunshine Newborn Care Services. I’m a mom, a fiancée, and someone who knows firsthand the emotional and physical challenges that come with welcoming a new baby, whether it’s your first or your fourth.

My journey into motherhood began at 17, and it was the biggest eye opener of my life. People warned me about the crying, the growth spurts, and the endless diaper changes but no one prepared me for the sleepless nights, the emotional rollercoaster, and the guilt I felt when asking for help.

Fourteen years later,  he's still alive and well and I’ve also had the privilege of caring for children of others for over a decade, including more than six years as an infant caregiver in a daycare setting. While I loved my “daycare babies,” I felt called to do more, something more personal, nurturing, and tailored to each family’s needs.

That’s when Rays of Sunshine was born: a safe, supportive service dedicated to reducing postpartum depression, giving parents the break they deserve, and providing newborns with loving, attentive care in the comfort of their own home.

I’m here to remind you that it’s okay to ask for help. What you’re feeling is completely normal—and every parent deserves a moment to breathe, recharge, and simply be.
